The reason I got into graphic design was, basically, because I spent a good portion of my teens and early 20s on the road—selling merchandise, playing punk, and getting high. To us, punk was all about sticking it to the man, so naturally, we had a real D.I.Y. approach to everything we did, from putting out our own record to printing t-shirts, stickers, and flyers. The easiest and cheapest way to do this was to sign up to be a graphics technician, as the school had all the machinery. This way, we could sneak in after classes and print our own merch.
